Heading into the Uintas mid-September and need some feedback on my setup...

Bow:
Hoyt Carbon Spyder 30, 70# draw with Rip TKO, 100gr Iron Will wide SB. 445gr total arrow weight, ~14% FOC
Montana Black Gold 3 pin sight, front stabilizer is 8" (I'm looking to shorten this for maneuverability)

What are your thoughts on the sight itself, as it's adjustable even though I don't use that function...20 / 40 / 50yd pins are the limit of my confidence. Switch to a simpler sight and smaller stabilizer or leave a good setup as it is and just be more careful moving?

Killed dozens of southeastern whitetail but it's a different experience out west and up high.

Ditch the stabilizer if you dont want it. I personally hunt with a longer one with no issues though. I would also set pins to 20/30/40 and get it set up with a sight tape that allows you to practice/tune at further distances.

Got to a longer stabilizer and side by and you’ll probally be able to extent your range. I hunt with a 15 inch front bar. I prefer it over the 12 I used for years because it’s long enough to hold onto as a handle while my bows over my shoulders hiking. Also start using that dial and practicing 80-100, that’ll make 40-60 a lot easier

Long front stabilizers haven't bothered me for western hunting. I use a 12". Back stabilizers angled way to the side to counterbalance the quiver are much more cumbersome in my experience. The Uintas are really thick with lodgepole pines until you get above the treeline. If you are able to find elk, there will likely be opportunity to get close for a shot. It tough hunting, but beautiful country. Good luck out there!

I've been really enjoying no stabilizer. Makes my bow super maneuverable. Ur sight should be great. But honestly do wat makes u confident
