2026 SHOT SHOW releases

So do you choose to only use iron sights since a magnified optic can fail?

Kidding of course. I’m also not a fan of aiming devices that rely on digital tech.

I like shooting open sights and receiver sights also. Whether with open sights or optical sights, I enjoy making the shot on my own. I also don’t want a a fishing rod that casts itself or a car that drives itself. YMMV.
We all get to make our choices on what tech we are ok with. Being in CO, we are allowed very little tech on our actual weapons.

I do not personally view binoculars that give you a range and dope to be making the shot for me or acting as an aiming device. It is literally just combining binos, a range finder and a door chart in one spot.

Seems like maybe don’t go back to iron sights, but definitely don’t use a range finder. It could fail for sure.

Airbags, no, ABS, maybe......all the rest ABSOLUTELY

If they arent capable of successfully driving without all of the gadgets to remind them that they are driving, they dont need to be driving.
Backup sensors alone save about 100 kids lives a year.

16 year olds by nature “can’t drive without all the gadgets to remind them” they are driving. The world has taught them to have zero attention span. I doubt you have raised the one that does….their brains have literally not finished forming at 16.

I’m not interested in arguing or debating the pros/cons of electronic innovation. I am only stating my opinion about how I like to shoot. Every device is a decision I have to make. Will this improve me? Will this make shooting more enjoyable? Can I count on it? Is it worth the money?
I think a big factor is how you learn things. If you learn to shoot open sights and no electronics, then adding a scope or a LRF is an added tool. If you learn to shoot with a HUD that does everything for you, you might not learn how to shoot very well. Sort of like playing video games where everything is automatic. Like said above, car backup cameras are a nice safety feature, but I’m teaching my daughter to drive right now. I make her check all her mirrors, then turn her body and look out the back window to back up. She glances at the backup camera too, but she’s not dependent on it alone. To me that’s the difference.

Each year I pray to the gun gods that Browning releases a stainless stalker x-bolt with a composite stock in left hand. Hopefully this year my prayers will be answered.

Bonus if it comes in 6CM or a fast twist 223.
Browning has perhaps the most variations of any manufacturer I know of so I do not think your prayers are in vain!

At the NRA show a few years ago, I went to the Weatherby booth to ask if the new 307 action could take pre-fit barrels. The ladies there (mediocre at best) looked at me like I had asked the them for the square root of 1,387,333.

She was literally standing next to a builders action and had no idea what they were for.
Seems like a terrible marketing strategy. Jim with Backfire did the Benelli rep pretty cold with his piss poor explanation of their new barrel. In the day of YouTube a reps inability to accurately and precisely describe a product (and I guess tell you why you should buy it as well) is amplified 10-20k+ fold when that video gets viewed on YouTube.

Beretta made Benelli look like an idiot in the Backfire video -

Benelli Paraphrase: “new barrel is what I call voodoo magic and is so advanced I can’t even explain it” “Performance gains of 1-7%”

Beretta Paraphrase: “this barrel won 14/15 Olympic medals and has the densest shot pattern of any shotgun barrel.”

I thought all major ballistics solvers were within a click out past 1000yds? Other than response time does it matter?
4dof had/maybe has (i stopped using it except for ballistic comparison) a massive error in compensation for angled shots. Varied wildly for AB. There app also was cooked when using group analysis and mils.

Booth bunnies. It got you in the booth. I use them to attract the uninitiated. Then swoop in behind them. Start a conversation and have you agreeing to execute a PO so you can continue to talk to them thinking you had a chance.

That's considering any/all drivers backing over kids. Not just youthful drivers at the wheel. Think soccer mom in a Suburban running late.

Don't get me wrong, I have 3 daughters that I will defend and protect to the end, but they will all learn to drive in a vehicle that requires them to f'n drive the thing!!

My oldest has her learner's permit right now and we have about 80% of her practice hours logged. She's definitely not perfect, but her 02 Subaru doesn't make shit up to cover for her.

Kids that are HANDED gadgets that do shit for them don't develop an attention span, but they can still learn.

Sorry for the derail😃

Back to SHOT Show!!!

Did Tikka drop the ball? No 6 Creed. Did they announce anything?
What was the best new bullet introduced? I’m planning to buy some Sierra 6mm and 25 cal TMK’s.
What was the best new product introduced? My vote is the TMK’s. It would’ve been the NX6’s but I was hoping for different reticle choices.

Its a new mountain ascent with a fugly stock but with a floorplate. Searching new kimber mountain ascent on Google should provide some info not from the kimbee website which has seemed to block NZ
If only they'd nix the bag ride cutout and do a short barrel suppressor ready option... Would check all my boxes

I wanted a 6 GT in the Ace Target

There's a stock in the backfire video(very briefly) that looked like it had the negative comb similar to a rokstok. He didnt say any details on it though

The new vortex rf binos have my interest. And the backfire chassis looks like it will be a great option at the price.

I think that may be the foundation remnant?

There's a post on their Facebook that the Internets won't let me share

Ill have to check it out. Dont know much about foundation stocks other than they are heavier.
