Looking like a move to South central Oregon is in the near future to the Keno/ Klamath area -

Can anyone give a top down on the elk (& Antelope) within about a 3 hr drive/ 1 hour small plane range from LMT or Medford?

Open to many ideas - local guides, lodges, or exploring blm or private membership options.

As well, what's the prs/ nrl scene like locally?

Reasonable elk heard east of Klamath/chiloquin. You’ll have to compete with tribes spotlighting year round down on the marsh, but there’s calling action during season. Antelope are expanding IMO, but always hard to draw in Oregon. Lots of 4x4s as you’d expect out between Chiloquin and Medford but you can get into them

Rifle antelope takes roughly 12 point minimum in oregon sooo. But opportunity to hunt elk in every direction really. Depends on your weapon and type of hunt you would like. Oregon harvest statistics would help. Coast range has some permit hunting on logging ground never looked into it.

If you're willing to drive 3 hours, I would skip the Klamath area all together and hunt closer to Roseburg. Much better elk numbers that way.

Like the other guys said, antelope is going to take a long time to draw unless you're hunting archery.

I live in Klamath Falls, feel free to PM me if you want to exchange info. Or if you need any info on the area prior to your move.

I have no idea what "prs/ nrl" is. :-) Antelope hunting is good not too far from K falls but as mentioned, you can't get a tag. It makes more sense to hunt out of state every couple of years. For elk... travel a bit further and you can get into decent hunting. It wont be trophy hunting but you soon learn that the definition of trophy in Oregon is much smaller

Excellent intro folks, thank you - looking forward to getting local when it happens later in the year

Moved to Oregon in the fall. One thing to keep in mind is you need to be in Oregon 6 months before you can obtain your resident hunting license. We bought a house in Oregon in August, but ODFW didn’t count our residency until we got our Oregon Drivers licenses in September. Archery elk does start until the last week of August and rifle in November so you will probably have plenty of time, but make sure to establish residency at least 6 months before your season starts.

There are good monthly NRL and PRS matches in Bend which isn't a terribly far drive from there. Look up COSSA near Bend and they have a FB page called "Great Basin Precision Rifle" for up to date stuff. Good crowd.
