2026 NRL Hunter Thread

I just signed up for the Vernal match, and will definitely be at the Defiance match. I started shooting some competitions last year, and man oh man are they addicting!
Nice dude I’ll be at vernal as well, squad 7! -Jared

Yessir.

There are possibly some other rules around vital-sized targets and added points, and possibly losing points for missing follow-ups (emphasis on spotting misses and making proper corrections instead of lobbing lead). Not confirmed, so don't take this as gospel.
It’s too bad it’s only in CA. Hopefully it spreads.

The ability to shoot a match with whatever I have to hunt with that year would be great. Seems like a good way to get more people shooting without having to worry about making weight or power factor.

Yea - I am shooting skills cause I wanna shoot my 6cm that I also hunted with this year. Granted - I am going to game it a bit and add some weight and such to the rifle.

Can you shoot the skills division with whatever you want?

Got up into the hills to verify dope for a new load before the match next week. Everything was seeming on so all the missing will be down to me.

Does anyone have any experience shooting a fixed 10x scope at an NRL hunter match? Would a fixed 10x be a major disadvantage to something like a 3-15 or 3-18?

The only scope I currently have that I trust to hold zero is a SWFA 10x and I’m trying to decide if it’s worth getting a SWFA 3-15 or Tenmile 3-18 for this.

I have shottwo full day matches with an nxs 2.5-10 and just kept it at 10power the whole time. It was fine, any disadvantages were partly made up by finding targets in the scope quicker since I couldn’t be zoomed in far and spotting impacts, again cause I couldn’t make the mistake of zooming in too far. Both mistakes I made recently using a 7-35 for the first time at a games match.

I think shoot the 10x - it will work even if not ideal.

I always just set my scope at 10x and leave it there for the whole match anyway. Last weekend I shot 150-850 yards all on 10x.

You'll be fine.

Too much mag, get a 6x

Kidding aside, I've shot a handful or NRLs and usually don't get out of 6-10x mag range on my 2.5-15 maven
