I am planning a elk hunt to Colorado next fall i was trying to get a idea of what would a good boots/shoe to try for the hunt

Tough to answer cause everyone’s feet are different. Quick search on here will provide you a number of quality boots to either order and try and or find a store to go and try on to see what works best for you.

Vivobare foot trackers. Been using them most of the year. Probably 70 miles in them. This week I had to use my traditional boots because I wore the soles off my Vivos. Now my knees hurt.

I like the Lowa Ranger. It's a good mix of stiffness/support while being fairly light, kind of a "middle of the road" boot.

The old crowned boot of Rokslide, the Lowa Tibet, has taken a backseat lately with guys shifting towards minimalist boots like the Vivo's.

You'll probably find yourself somewhere between the two as both take a fair amount of getting used to.

Number one thing is are your feet comfortable in the all day long. There are lots of good brands out the but they don't fit all feet. You are going to have to try on several. Sometimes you'll buy a boot but it isn't great for your feet. Get rid of them rather than torture yourself because they're a name brand. When you find your boot buy a second pair...
