Look at 49 for NR archery.. wowzers.

Saw that. We hunted that unit 6 or 7 years ago with 7, actually not, I think we had 5.

"Our" unit crept just a hair. 50% of 3 pt holders drew last year, 25% drew this year. Unfortunately we weren't part of the 25%.

We had an E1R tag in 2023 that took 7 to draw. Took 12 this year. Not crazy considering there are only 4 non resident tags, but that's a decent jump to. FWIW, Im not sure I thought it was worth 7. Right over the ridge in the next unit, it took 3 to draw this year. More tags though.

I drew a first season elk rifle tag, already had an outfit booked. Creep was 4, I’m glad I had a couple extra points.

Wow, I was the only res to burn 3 points on a buck tag in my unit that usually takes 0. But I want to hunt with my stepson. And to see res burn 16 points on a 0 pt ml elk tag that ive drawn 4 years in a row is bananas.

It’s always wild to me to see the random 1 or 2 mid to high point holders burn points in a unit that is a 0/1 point unit or sometimes leftover… I mean it’s their points but what are ya doing man?!

I guess RS is a microcosm of fanatics that deep dive this stuff and there are a lot of folks out there who have no clue how the game works… which is crazy with the ease of info but if they all got clued in our draw odds would really be in trouble

Yeah maybe they wanted to hunt with their kids or something too, 3 points is one thing though. For 16, I would tell my kid theyre coming with me and the next year we can both draw and hunt together.

Right? I get wanting to hunt with family, but man you can get an okay unit and have a heck of a time on one tag and then both hunt together the next year like you said… I think some folks are absolutely clueless and thank the lord for them… my BIL “hunts” (hour in the morning and last 1.5 hours of the day, near roads) and I’m glad there are those like him, if everyone was obsessed and was punching all their tags there would be a lot less critters around

I can see burning a pile of points on a low point unit to hunt with someone. Because they aint ever catching up to your points to hunt with you. And if you burn your 16pts on a 16pt unit and start back at 0pts you aint ever catching back up to them to hunt with them.
