2026 Caribou Hunt off the Dalton - Rentals

Hey all, looking to head up to Alaska to hunt some Caribou off the Dalton this year. My main question is around the car rental part and it's what makes me the most nervous. I've read through some of the posts here and see a lot of mixed answers.

Are people still using U-Haul's to get up there? I saw someone said U-Haul bans this now. Does anyone have this confirmed personally or is it just heresy for now?

For those utilizing Turo, how have you confirmed with the vehicle owner that they allow their car on the Dalton?

Does anyone else have a non-conventional real way to rent a vehicle without spending 3k for a week?

Yeah, I've read a bunch of them. Just looking for some firsthand experience that occurred within 2025. lots of old posts and dead threads. The Dalton HWY rental thread was probably the best one.

I rented a 1/2 ton pickup with a canopy from alaska 4x4 rentals for 9 days I believe for right around $2000 last year.

No issues at all.
