It was good we haven’t got back to the peak years of crp but way better than a few years ago.I didn’t make it to SD last year. Wasn’t it an exceptional year? Hopefully will be a banner year.

I am from pa as well. The PGC does a great job with the pheasant program but it can be tough. Here in PA our upland season doesn’t start until the last weekend in October which coincides with our muzzleloader doe season so I won’t be hunting pheasants until November. Only chance I’ll get to hunt earlier is if we buy and set out some chukars on our property to get some practice in.
I’m definitely looking forward to it, Cedar will be 2.5 come hunting season and she did ok on pheasants last year but she was much better on planted chukars. I think the main issue is that she doesn’t have much experience with pheasants and they seem to run a lot more so I’m going to try and get her on more birds this year. I just have to get better at getting her close enough to smell them.

Yes, but it isn’t near as much fun.Anyone here successfully hunt quail and chukar without a dog?
Reason why I have been looking at pudelpointers and german wirehairs as a potential future hunting partner.Yes, but it isn’t near as much fun.
Before setting your heart on a nice PP, you gotta make sure you can pull off the sweatervest look. We have standards to maintain.I

The one downside to the Sunday hunting is it’s going to be tough getting on birds if you don’t make it out Saturday or Sunday
Definitely hit up some other game lands. We cycle through them. It seems that pressure is low at one then the next year the pressure is high. There are some really nice places. Feel free to pm me if you need some help as we have been playing this game for years!I just started last year and so far I’ve only hunted one SGL on the two weekends you could hunt Saturday and Sunday in November then one day in January and one day in February. This year I plan on branching out to a few others.
6 different hunting days.
10:44 hours afield
12 miles walked
22.3 miles Cedar traveled
3 roosters and 3 hens flushed in range
3 roosters flushed out of range
1 unflushed rooster caught but lost in a sticker bush
2 roosters and one hen bagged
13 total birds seen
Most birds seen and taken were in the November season, in January and February we hunted two Saturdays covered 4.1 miles in 3 hours and saw 1 hen that my gun didn’t fire with a dozen or so feather piles and carcasses.

I don't make up the rules, but thems the breaks. Also gotta make sure you have an adequate mani/pedi budget so you can coordinate your looks and accessories.Didn't know that was part of it too. Not sure if I can pull that off.
