DIY Alaska hunt. Last year my brother drew the short stick and got to shoot the only legal ram we found. This year I got my chance on the 7th day of the hunt. Super stoked to get my first one!

Congrats! I'm 3 years and 40 something days in and yet to have even put eyes on a legal ram. I can't imagine how excited you are and what a feeling it must be.

My son took his first Ram on the 22nd here in Alaska. 10 year old double broomer. It was an incredible hunt and this night by the fire will play over in my mind forever.

SE Oregon, between working in the unit and boots on the ground during the weekends, after two months I had the biggest ram I had seen in the unit patterned to a point. Put him to bed the night before season, then proceeded to blow the stalk opening morning poor shot angle at 420 yards with no real rest. played the waiting game all day and got him slacking with 5 smaller rams that evening. 471 yards with the 7 mag with my partners by my side and wife and daughters watching through the spotting scope. Odfw has him at 7 1/2 years old and grossed 171 5/8. Mighty fine Oregon California bighorn in my book and exceed all my expectations for a once in a lifetime hunt.
