Muzzleloader buck.

Any ideas on the growth on his front leg? Seemed to be keratin/hoof type tissue, looked like a big dog claw. My wife said it was his crack nail

Was a weird year this year - lots and lots of bucks but all small/young bucks - every year we see 1-2 true trophy deer - not this year however.

I lost on the short straw and my buddy had first ups on the biggest deer we dide see this year and shot a 26" 150 class 4 point. Got down to the last couple days of my hunt and I decided to take this healthy 3 point.

I had left the little 6 ARC in camp and had the trusty 7mm/150 scenar combo. 125 yards, 1 shot, dropped in the spot. Getting close to the 30 kill mark with that rifle/bullet combo.

Opening day success felt awesome after missing all of archery season. I’d have shot him on the last day, so he got it on the first day. I had him in my scope a total of three times, very excited to use my new SWFA 10x at 300+ yards….and I ended up with a 30 yard shot. Shooting a bone stock 6.5 Creedmoor Savage Axis II. It was my first proper solo backpack hunt, which was painful and satisfying.

Very fortunate in Utah on the last day, last 10 minutes of legal shooting hours to fill my tag. I debated with myself about applying in the Boulder rifle restricted unit but felt nostalgic to use my Dad's M70 in -06 pushing a 166gr Stone Hammer (no tracking needed)

First muley buck for me. Missed my chance on these fellas last year, had a 11 long months to relive that poor shot and rethink my plan for 2025. Got up into the basin first few days of the MT general season, hunt went exactly as I had hoped it would, this fellow comes running in after some does at 70 yards. Solo pack out about 4 miles down canyon to the truck, eating good tonight!
