2025 NM Elk Draw Thread

Some days i wish i were a high level hacker. I would hack into NMDGF and add "Landowner Tags for Elk to Be Ranch Only for 2025 and beyond"
While you are in there, eliminate the out pool and make the split 90% 10%. The e-plus tags should be reduced by half or better and put into the public draw since many UW tags are now taking elk on public lands.

@Scoot - Have you drawn in NM before? Prediction on the results posted date?

Awaiting the results in NM so I know what to do with all the tags this year.

Either I draw or I get a pile of money back. I feel good about this draw no matter what!

Elk,
Oryx,
Sheep,
Antelope,

I think it was close to $5k.

I know what you're thinking did he fire six shots or only five well to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself but being this is a .44 magnum the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off. You gotta ask yourself one question:

Do I feel lucky? Well do ya Punk?

It's over-rated. That's what I hear anyway from people who always draw 🤣
A couple of Gila units that used to be excellent hunting are now in the dumpster with low success rates because of Unit Wide Landowner tags. Say you paid 20 bucks more for what used to be a “quality” hunt and you don’t even see any elk. Twice as many hunters out there because of e-plus. No longer limited entry. The public draw odds are worse and the success rates have plummeted. If a hunter is serious about hunting elk in New Mexico, primitive weapons are the best bet but still quite low draw odds for residents and non-residents alike.

What you are referring to is pretty much every single western state. I don't know of anywhere where crowding has gone down in the last 10-15 years. I don't know of a single tag that is easy to draw anymore.

In the dumpster is all relative…. Most of us here would probably consider a “dumpster” tag in the gila to be a hell of a hunt.

I’ll take my chances.

Agree with Gila. Unfortunately, there are no more elk in NM! Please remove NM from your tag strategy moving forward.
