Fun morning with old dog, 11 yrs., young dog, 11 months. Put up four hens, no shoot, and one long tail rooster that my 11 year old retrieved after a long tracking. Y lab is getting there and older pup is teaching well. MTG

My new 9 month old “started” Wirehair I picked up last month from Three Devils Kennel in Nampa, ID. She’s from great dogs, has a big prey drive, is a mischievous, a button pusher and is a sweet girl. I’ve had her out twice for particularly spooky early season chukar and we killed two the first hunt. It’s been warm so I’ve been taking easy and limiting her miles so she doesn’t overheat but soon her endurance will be built up and it’ll cool down into the 40’s and 50’s during the day and we can really get after it. Still waiting for her to come into heat and get that in the past (she’ll likely get fixed next year). She’s still figuring out the transition from the pigeons she was trained on to wild birds but she’s got all the tools and has made progress each hunt. Tomorrow will be our third hunt.

The picture was her softly pointing something she smelled near home during one of our many walks.
