First public land dove hunt for this guy. Wasn’t sure how he’d handle all the excitement but it was no big deal for him.

Otter doesn’t mind the incidental pigeon retrieve while dove hunting.

First bird of the season. Fairly slow opener with near 80 degree temps after a couple weeks in the 50s and 60s.

Have to manage expectations…and realize this Dude isn’t even 6 months old yet. Gives ZERO F’s about gunfire. Stays local. Sits pretty quiet once you burn off some of the energy. Watches the sky VERY well.

First dove hunt for this one. I was proud but still a work in progress at 1 year old.

One bird first thing Sunday morning followed by points and some flushes in stuff so thick I didn't see most of them even as close as 10-15 yards.

We still have good numbers of birds but incoming weather is probably going to wrap our season up pretty soon.

We’ve been working on water retrieves hunting ponds in the evening. After some encouragement he has no problem swimming out 20 yards to get a bird.
Sitting the feed patches in the morning there’s less bullfrogs for distractions.

Got out for the first time this morning. Old draht had no rust on him . Not a shocker but was a relief since he’ll be the workhorse this year with my other dog being out til December if all goes well. Great to be back out!
