2025 Bear success thread

Finally got my first black bear. A nice little chocolate in northern California on the first day hunting of our 'week long' backpack hunt. 30-06 shooting a 138gn Hammer Hunter HHT, 200 yard shot, cross-canyon - dropped him right in his tracks and he fell 135 feet through some bushes and then down a big chute. Even though he was a smaller bear, it made for a heavy 7 mile pack out....it didn't help that we still had basically all of our food left and had to pack that back down the trail. Saw 8 bears that day, and they were all on the move solo through the berry bushes. Last trip up there we saw a ton of sows with cubs, but none this trip.

Killed two bears when I lived in CA 2000-2003. Hunted D8 and D9. Love the Sierras. To bad there in CA😂

7 year old daughter took her first big game animal , a 7’ Alaskan grizzly with a 338 win. Proud dad right here. Fresh tenderloin was delicious.

Got a nice boar yesterday in Northern California with my dad. I shot him in the bottom of a creek and he ran uphill and died 30 yards below the road on a skid trail. Absolutely stuffed with acorns and pretty fat. It’s the first animal I’ve gotten with my dad in 13 years. It seems like we’re always hunting for him these days.
