2024 Colorado OTC Archery Elk craziness?

Should it be expected that all but the best (20+ pt) Colorado public land units are basically garbage now compared to years past?

Ehhh depends on the week you hunt. Some years you may have a giant basin/ drainage to yourself, some years you might have 35 other guys in the same square mile. It is saturated that is for sure. Long gone are the days of empty backcountry that is for sure. A buddy of mine started backpack hunting in the early 80’s in Co and man that sounded like a ton of fun!

Im in a new OTC spot right now. I have seen a lot of people but some hunters that came through my camp and chatted a bit said there is less hunters than they have seen from the past 7 years, but less elk too. I have seen nothing, heard nothing, 10'000ft. There are a lot of cattle in the area, which I try not commingle, but options are limited and this is already my second camp.
