Happy New Year 2022 EV1

After 7 days earlier of setting camp, scouting, couple days of deer hunting, the WA State general spike bull elk season opens. After being on stand since before daylight and hunting for <2 hours, seeing 6 cows/calves & 5x5 bull, 10 cows/calves & 6x6 bull. Watched the bulls walk as general tag is for spike bull only.

8am, I maneuvered down the canyon where small herds elk observed spilling over the distant 3/4-mile away ridgeline. The elk being pushed down from hunter pressure above. Hoping to head off the 2 groups of elk as 3 spike bulls spotted thru the Swaros. Limited to spike bull only, I quickly made tracks down the canyon trail hoping to intercept the elk. Slowed down to still-hunt along, and the magic happens, and the work begins...

also, since I have a few inquiries...

the road in the video is an old, closed logging road. Last traveled in 1967-69...by me & my father in a 1966 Scout 4x4 w/6-banger engine.
The old road sure helps get in the wheeled game cart the 1.75 miles in & out.
But the small hills on the road, up and down, are killer for this old guy's calves!
