2021 Turkey Meat Pole

I found this guy strutting in one of my favorite areas mid-morning, but couldn't seal the deal. I was able to set up right in his lap and get him the next time around.

Low bird numbers in Oklahoma again this year. Luckily I picked out a good one to shoot. 6 beards all over 5 inches longest being 9 3/4” 7/8” Spurs ended up being #17 non typical bird in Oklahoma with a gun. My first with multiple beards. Had to have him mounted

I was able to fill my last tag of the spring in Iowa on Saturday (unless I get a wild hair and try to fill a second tag in Kansas). He was a 5 bearded bird that should land in the top 20 Iowa birds of all time if I decide to register him. This was my personal 5th tag filled of the spring, with help on a few others. Here are some pics I haven't shared here yet. Fingers crossed on the Wyoming elk draw this week, so I can start thinking about something else.Joe Iowa.jpgJoe Iowa Beards.jpgJoe Kansas.jpgBrittany MO.jpgDad MO.jpg

Arguably my best bird to date. 5th season here in WI. He came in silent about an hour and a half after fly down. I was focused on some other birds in the field and I turned and he was right next to my hen decoy. 25.4 pounds, 10.75 on the beard, and just over 1.5 on the spurs. A few of my favorites spring from a multitude of states. I miss heading west, but nothing is as rewarding as big woods easterns!

So I found a lot of turkey sign and a "three feather salute" at this spot.. Pretty good chance someone took a bird there... Very next day I took one there myself, so left my own "three feather salute" right beside the other.
