Well our 2020 season is off and running. We have got out a few times to chase some birds. Goals for the season is an Alaskan upland slam (spruce grouse, ruff grouse, sharptail grouse, willow ptarmigan, whitetail ptarmigan, Rock ptarmigan) and to hunt a lot!

Man I am still torn as to what to go with for a vest and pant/chaps.. My browning pants ripped up bad for me last year and my scheels vest has seen it's better days.

I did a lot of research on vests and put an order in for a final rise vest. Seems like a great vest. But there is a back order right now. Not sure how quickly you need it.

I have looked at that one and a few others just a bit spendy for now. Looking at the Scheels Premium strap vest, Filson, or Orvis for now. Saves me money to get some chaps/pants.

I’ve been thinking about a new 20ga for this year. Anyone have any experience with the CZ 1012?

Heard decent things. You could also check out the Franchi Affinity if your budget is tighter to get into something higher end. I have a Affinity Select in 12ga from Scheels and it is AWESOME!

Was off to a promising start until my GWP pup came down with parvo. Nasty ass stuff.

Looking like he’ll pull through but it’ll definitely be a set back. Pheasants in the Dakotas over the Holidays, otherwise chukar chukar chukar. Mix in a few ducks.

I run Filson shelter cloth brush pants for Kansas pheasant and quail. Great pants but the waist runs way small.

The wind was brutal where I was at in Montana, once the wind died down we got into some good numbers. Ended up with a grouse and dove limit and 11 partridge.

All three ptarmigan down on the goal now time to chase some grouse. I’m waiting for some leaves to come off the trees to make the grouse hunting a little more fun (and easy)
