Our rifle season here in Nebraska opened yesterday. At first first light I found a group of does and a small fork horn milling around. With rut in full force it seemed like there should be a more dominant buck nearby. With the wind right I snuck into shooting range to a spot I could sit and watch. I didnt have to wait long and I saw some big forks come through the brush and around the corner. With the back forks he's got I didnt see a need to look around for anything else. He chased does a little, but eventually stopped broadside and that was the end of my season. Tag was notched, buck was quartered and packed back to coolers waiting in the pickup by noon. I think this was the shortest season I've ever had!
