This is my partner’s 2020 bull. This is in one of the downgraded CO San Juan units. I have much better “grip and grin” photos of the bull, but this picture is my favorite as I think it really captures that moment of just trying to process everything that just happened and what this means. It Should score 290”, fantastic bull for that unit. His 1st Bull. His 1st archery anything. After 6 days of grinding this was the ONLY bugle we heard. I called him in after a marathon session. Shot was not ideal, 500 yard tracking job. Complete relief, overwhelming gratitude.

MY hunt was cut short due to losing my horse in the gila wilderness. I found him after 5 days looking non stop. I then took him home to recuperate . I came back the last weekend to hunt near trailheads for any elk so I could backpack it out. Called in this bull just after first light Sat morning. Not my biggest bull, not even in the top five, but glad I can still get it done at 68. DIY.

I hope to be the same!

2020 Wyoming diy public land elk. Thanks to my unselfish friend and hunting partner, Afhunter1 (fellow Rokslide member), for my first archery bull and the trip of a lifetime!

2020 has treated our family very well in the hunting aspect. On Sept 26, my 78 year old grandfather took a big 5x5. This was the biggest 5x5 we have ever seen. 30 minutes after him, the neighbor kid hunting with us, shot his very first animal with a bow. A beautiful clean 6x6. On Sept 30, I was in the right spot at the right time and this beauty 6x6 gave me an opportunity and I made the best of it. The best part about my grandfathers elk, was that my 2.5 year old son got to come out for the recover.
