My third bear of the spring was a very special one, a nice grizzly I was able to get with a wood arrow and stone point out of my longbow, something I’ve been trying to get done for a couple years...

Nice Bear! Noticed you have had some luck in the sawtooth zone with elk. Heading up there for some archery fun, haven’t seen much with the bit of scouting, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Justin

The pics we have smiling all have something up with them. Somebody blinked, someone not looking at the camera, or somebody just looking like a clown.

Man id love to do an interior grizz hunt, but the guide requirement turns me off. Just curious, what caliber rifle did you use? Ive talked to a couple natives up in western alaska about it, and one said he uses a 7mm. Not a 7mm mag, just a 7mm. Another told me about a grizz he killed with a .223, said he had to put "a whole lot of bullets" in it.

That bear was taken with a .308 at around 100 yards.

Here are some pics of our annual Prince William Sound Black Bear hunt last May. This time it was his turn to shoot first.

We spotted one on the beach, rushed to get ashore and it disappeared, we then spotted it higher up crossing some snowfields and wind was still in our favor so tried to get closer. Couldn’t close the distance on that one so hung out up high and glassed awhile. We then saw this other bear appear down on the beach. Took a longer route down to stay out of sight and play the wind. He ended up taking him with one shot from a .300wm, bang flop, using Barnes ttsx 180s. Not the biggest, but it was his first bear and we had a blast this trip. I think it squared 5’6”.

Pro tip: it helps to catch some fish in the afternoon to help cover up your scent
