Review: 2018 SKRE lineup in the new Summit pattern

I just got home from the Western Hunt Expo and was able to put my hands on SKRE’s 2018 lineup in the summit pattern. I talked Mike Wand into letting me take some of the items home with me to test. While the new pattern is more appealing to western hunters, what stuck out about this years lineup with me is the changes made to the designs. We (consumers) talked and then listened. They made changes such as making the material softer and quieter, changed the zippers, pulls, as well as many more changes I’ll get into later. I’m excited to put some miles in these and give you a good, honest review. For now, you’ll have to settle with some side by side pics.

Merino neck gaiter and beanie.

Kanati core hoody. This guy is a thick Merino midlayer piece made of 95% Merino 5% spandex

Here is the new logo vs the old. Notice they took away the flap above the pocket in 2018.

Jacket differences, summit has cord zipper pulls and zipper garage on hand pockets. Summit is cut different on the bottom, or just how it’s laying? Like the new logo.

Did you happen to check out the rain jacket, wondering if they added vents?

Yes they do. They are different size of pulls though but I agree with you, weird...

Lightweight outdoor research crocs. They look nice. I’ll be using them Thursday. We finally got snow!

I do not own any subalpine but yes it is similar.

I have a subalpine hat actually... It will be a few days until im home but ill post a side by side..

I think the cut is the same, ill compare when i get home.
I do not think any changes other than the storage bag now has what print on what piece it is. EG- bag has pants printed on the bottom. I think its awesome as last year, multiple times I pulled out just looking for one or the other and it was a 50/50 shot on grabbing the right one!

Thinking about ordering some rain gear. Was hoping they would add pit zips I did see that I waited too long as they raised the prices recently. That's the bad thing about procrastinating.

I didn't care for the flap. Made it difficult to use.
