2017 Success Photos

My CO bull. I didn't get a chance to score him before he was off to have his flesh eaten by beetles for the skull mount. Any elk experts with a guess on the score? I am 5'11"

New Mexico, day 8 of the hunt. I think it was around 7000' or so. Very hot, but had some good bugling in a low density and low pressure unit. 45 yards while sitting a wallow. This was the smallest bull I saw, believe it or not. The body on this bull was enormous. It makes his rack look tiny in comparison. Another couple of years and he probably would have been a bruiser.

My wife's DIY public land bull. This was her first elk hunt and her first archery hunt. Double lunged him with one well placed arrow. Couldn't be more proud.

First elk on the last weekend of archery season Colorado. DIY Public land solo at 10k. Did 25 miles total packing him out over 3 days. No spoilage thanks to cold creeks and cool temps.

Dangit man! I'm going to have to change my name and start hunting closer or further than I used to. Everybody is 5 miles back these days.

MT archery bull. 5200 feet in elevation. Was at 7200, but dropped down due to a foot of snow.

My daughters helped with the meat wrapping!

1st bull in 10 years of going diy archery. Taken 3 cows before. Lot of blood, sweat and tears went into this one. Worth the wait. Monkey is off my back now!
MT
8k ft
Snuck into 25 yards while he was beating up a poor little tree. He went 25 yds. Was dead within 10 seconds of the shot.

great elk people, and some great stories I am sure. Especially the guy who's bull ends up in the middle of a dammed up pond !!!
makes my spot seem like a cake walk. So many great first time harvests as well.
2017 appears to be good to many

First ever elk hunt, and we called him into 9 yards. A great tag and a lot of luck.
