Lots of great units over the counter, big bucks come out of hiding! Just had a desert muley almost hit the 300" mark this year. Not a typo... 300" Archery OTC in the desert is a blast!!

HuntHarder, I have a good friend that lives in Phoenix. Are there public land units around there that are easy to draw?

Every unit in the state minus 4-5 far north units open up to over the counter archery deer hunting at some point during the year. Units around PHX are usually open for 2 weeks in Aug., then again Dec. 12ish thru January 31. Lots of opportunity if you know how to hunt them. Muleys are usually hitting the rut in the desert around late December, early January. Coues Deer seem to rut middle of December, and really go into full swing around middle to late January. Good luck

It really depends on what type of hunt you want to take on. If you want to hunt alpine I don't think you can beat Colorado. If you want to archery hunt the rut then I would go to Az. Two completely different hunts. But the most information you can get the fastest is probably in Eastmans Mrs section. You have to be a subscriber. As a newbie to western hunting they cover a lot of info for us eastern predators.
