Anyone trying anything new for this coming season?

Being a long time Mathews boy 10 years to be exact I recently took some advice from Evan Williams good friend of mine and picked up a hoyt, needless to say I now own a 2015 nitrum 30 and see me having a very long relationship with hoyt bows.

2015 hoyt nitrum 30
72# 27.5" draw (#2 cam in D slot)
300 black eagle arrow carnivores cut to 26.5" (total weight 380)
AAE max hunter vanes
8" bee stinger sport hunter xtreme
NAP carbon apache rest
5 arrow tight spot quiver
currently have a HHA ol-5519 with 2.5" extension but have a kingpin on its way
Proline bowstrings (bcyX)
3/16 RAD peep
Dead ringer 100gr super freak broadheads
Scott little goose

That is a pretty sweet bow... except you joined the "Dark side" of bows now ;) :D - coming from a Matthews Fan

I am pretty stoked for this year... I have done a pretty massive gear purge this year and have tons of new toys to play with.
Sold quite a bit of hunting and guitar related gear I wasn't using or wasn't 100% happy with and upgraded to the following:

New gear to Test:

Zeiss Conquest HD 10x42
FHF Gear Bino Harness
Exo 3500 (Still waiting for mine)
First Lite gear - Llano, Chame, Allegheny, Halstead
Savage 116 with B&C Medalist Stock
Misc. Kifaru Pullouts and organizers

Debating about trying out the Shuttle T or G5 Strikers... have the Montecs now and they are a little loud.

Should be a really fun year... plus my wife will be bowhunting for the first time:)

Iv been using fhf gear for a few years now best stuff Iv used, I'm selling all my old realtree UA gear to get the new ridge reaper gear

Good topic. The only thing I'm changing for 2015 is my camo. I wore out my King's system and am giving First Lite a try. I've had the Chama hoodie and SS and will be adding the Llano and Chama LS/quarter zip respectively. To top off the system the Kanab pant and Stormtight pant and jacket. The hard part is gonna be getting everything in the Fusion pattern.

Iv heard nothing but good things about first lite gear maybe in the future I'll get into some but for now I love my barren camo UA gear

New sleeping pad: the old maroon thermarest finally spring a leak I can't fix.

New stove: my original jetboil was just getting to gross to keep cleaning looked like it had been in a camp fire a time or two as well
And new bow. From a hoyt vector turbo to an xpedition xring. It's probably the best bow I've shot to date.

Other than a new Hoyt Carbon Spyder Turbo, most of my hunting setup is unchanged for this season.

I am trying out mix of new camp items. Mostly trying to lighten the load, but also looking for some 4 season versatility with the stove. This is all stuff that I have and will be trying out this spring/summer.
Jimmy's Tarps DT Shelter
Jimmy's Tarps 6'x9' tarp
Ti Goat Wifi Stove
Ti Goat Kestrel Bivy
MSR Micro Rocket Stove
MLD 850ml mug/pot
Kenetrek Mountain Extreme non-insulated (been using the 400's for a year)

There are two other items on my list I've yet to pull the trigger on, but will hope to pull them together sometime soon. Have had each of these in my cart on several occasions, but haven't made the purchase yet.
Stone Glacier Archer Pack (bag only, already have the frame)
Kifaru Megatarp with Annex

I've been eyeing Hilleberg tents for a long while also...but that's probably something for next year. Both the Akto and Enan are on my watchlist.

All good stuff, only change I had listed was bow, quiver and sight that's on way

As for other gear Iv bout the vortex rangefinder, sleep pad, sleep sack, set of the ridge reaper camo gear and still waitin to buy vortex spotting scope, new pack for my 10 day trips

The only big change here is I'm considering trying a hammock with a tarp and getting off the ground. Here in washington you never really get above treeline so that's not a worry

I'll be trying my first set of high end bino's....swaro 10x50 slc's. They're way nicer than my cheap luepold acadias but they're about twice the weight. Hopefully the kuiu bino harness can support them lol

Also picked up a rem 700 mountain ss in 280. We'll see if it gets any field time against my savage LWH 260.

And Im trying some first lite gear to compare with my kuiu kit. Should be a fun year messing with new gear!

Just making the switch to bow hunting this year so mostly everything is new to me. Picked up a lightly used Kifaru DT2 - 9 miles on it today, very comfortable. New msr reactor 1.0, EE 10° with a synmat 7, gonna see how a tent a bought a few years back will work on scouting trips, if not well a new tent will be on the list. Going first lite for clothing. Got a pair of Ken. Mtn extreme leather lined that I have about 25 miles on so far, good boot for my feet.

Just started shooting the Maxima Reds I plan on hunting with, combined with solid broadheads man do they fly well.

Picked up a pair of Vortex diamondbacks for $150 - we'll see it they are good enough...got 8 x 50 and should fit the relatively close in terrain I'll be hunting. Also trying to decide on which bino harness, between Kuiu and FHF, got both used at good prices. Leaning toward the FHF but would have it lined with felt as they are louder than I'd like.

spending a lot of time in the woods this late winter/early spring. Was at 6000 this morning, no snow, very odd for us. Gonna work my butt off to find the elk this year- looking very forward to September.

Gear will pretty much shake out before the season.

I have to build myself a new bow for hunting this year. Someone really wanted "my bow" that I made for elk hunting. So I'll build myself another carbon backed foam or bamboo cored longbow. Hopefully 55 pounds and 58 inches long.

I'm really looking forward to next elk season. I bought a new (used) truck to road trip with and hopefully carry all my gear and meat home. Also on the list of new stuff to try out is some First Lite gear, Kifaru Mountain Warrior, Vortex Razor 11-33 x 50 spotting scope, EE 0* quilt, and some VAP arrows. So far I'm liking the VAP's during target practice.
On my wishlist includes a floorless shelter, bivy, jetboil type stove, water filtration system, and lots of exercise to be at the top of my game by September.

New Nitrum Turbo on its way and going to give the MGB sights a try this year instead of the Hogg Father. Couple new scopes on my rifles and that's about it. Making the jump to a DSLR setup as well....

Mr Charvey, I've been thinking about that jimmy tarp DT for an emergency shelter/ rain storm coffee kiosk. How does it fit 2 people and how fast does it pitch? You'll love those ni kenetreks if you liked the insulated.

well i had ordered an obsession fusion 7 bow but after shooting it for a little while i realized it wasnt for me so i sold it and will be hunting with a bowtech experience this year. i will putting the new ripcord ace rest on it. always been a qad hdx guy but this ace rest looks like an improvement with metal internals and micro adjust so we'll see. also will be trying g5 t3s and nap killzone broadheads after shooting reapers last year and also will be using the eberlestock x2 pack with the bow bucket. bow bucket is great for riding to the field on my quad with my bow and the x2 frame will be an improvement over my old alps outdoorz daypack. also switched to brunton epoch 10.5x43 glass from vortex diamondbacks
