Congratulations Neitz. Great first kill. Hope you got all that new gear good and bloody! Did you kill him while he was wallowing or shortly thereafter?

Thanks!

Yes, all that gear is a bloody mess. And yes, the bull was a filthy muddy mess.

And after packing 300lbs 3 miles off the mountain (with the help of a friend), I am a mess too.

My 12 year old shot his first elk, first day ever bowhunting big game. Western MT, Gallatin National Forest, backpack hunt. He did great, made a 7.5 ft shot, coming to my cow call.

My NM bull killed on opening day. My partner got it done on day three with a real similar 5x5.

Two bulls in three days and were done! In a hotel tonight waiting for our meat, headed home tomorrow.

Xtorminator, that is one ancient looking bull, well done, I bet he has snuck by a few hunters in years past.

1epichnut your bull appears to have a few years on him too, very unique looking head, a great trophy for sure.

9 days, 100+ miles, several close encounters, some scream filled action in NIdaho culminated in a 2 hr sprint to keep up with this old time Bugler who wanted to contain his large harem, but he could not contain himself and finally came in to this wiley veterans home brewed cow calling to offer a shot for myself and my long time friend to put smiles on our faces!

Good bulls everyone and yet another dandy bull Ross, hell of a job. No wapiti have fallen victim to my arrow yet although some buddy's have thrown some carbon. But I did happen to arrow this whitey on opening day.
