I’ve been using some Buffalo bore 190g monos for awhile now. They feed really well and are accurate out of my gun. They are made for factory barrels but they still work fine in my KKM barrel.

I’ve killed a couple handfuls of elk with muzzleloaders. They lob very similarly built and sized bullets at similar velocities.
There is very little shock from the bullet impact. It’s more similar to an arrow than a high power rifle.

You are punching holes and the more and deeper the holes the better.

Lead expanding at 1000 just doesn’t have the same effect as it does at 2000fps.

It’s been my experience that at those speeds mass matters most. Heavier bullets penetrate deeper than lighter ones.
The extreme penetrators look to give up much in the mass department.
