2 person floored tent for tall people?

I need a 2 person tent with a floor that will fit me at 6’5” and my wife. We both use long wide sleeping pads. Tent will be used for Colorado 3 season backpacking. We used a seekoutside LBO last 2 years but she said she has had enough of the floorless and doesn’t like sleeping in a bug bivy.

Looking at the tarp tent double rainbow, light heart solong6, and gossamer gear the2.

Open to others as well and no real limit on price within reason. needs to be easy and fast to setup/takedown, be able to setup without getting interior wet if raining, enough dry area to store packs and a dog

I don’t know for sure but the Dan Durston x-mid 2p fits 2 wide pads and fits two people easily.

The SG skyscraper 2p is 92in long. But with you being gigantic and all a 3p or even 4p is the way I'd roll. Hilleberg as forealboreal mentioned is never a bad pick. Some of their models have extended vestibules so you'll have some of the convenience of the floorless back.

Yep.....or the UL4. I had the UL2, UL3, and UL4 and have kept only the UL4. It's great for two larger folks.......and even better if you throw a dog into the mix as well.

Great suggestions so far. I didn’t mention it I guess but light weight is a concern. The hilebergs look nice but seem significantly heavier than other options. And to clarify we are planning on the dog sleeping in the vestibule area

Have a look at the tarptent cloudburst 3. Roomy for 2, but certainly meets your specs. I have one for family backpack trips. I use a long/wide pad. Setup is about as fast and easy as it gets

I just saw this and is the reason I went with the cloudburst. It has huge vestibules like the hillebergs

Hilleberg Anjan 3. Long enough, great width, good vestibule, and after a few mods I have my just under 4lbs. A lot of tent for sub 4lbs.

Seems like the Z-packs Triplex would be the ticket. I’m not quite as tall as you. But, I have plenty of extra room in mine. It’s light enough that I carry it on solo trips. And is easy to add another person. Like most “3-person” tents, it‘s really only a 2-person tent. I love mine.

It doesn't have a vestibule nearly as large as a Hille, whether it be the standard or the GT version. The materials don't compare either. I really like Tarptents, but it's comparing apples to oranges comparing them to a Hille. The Kaitum 3, especially the GT would be a buy once, cry once for what he mentioned as requirements. It'll handle any weather, the dog would have a palace in that GT vestibule and plenty of gear storage room. Vertical walls means no touching tent walls with sleeping bags, and dual entrances. For tall people the Kaitum or Keron tents check all the boxes. I'll pay a weight penalty for a comfortable camp. You can also run it without the inner tent and have a killer floorless setup that saves weight.

Didn’t mean to put them head to head. But compared to the standard 3 person tents the cloudburst shares design elements with the tunnel shaped hilles. The OP is looking for a lightweight package with large vestibule, but not at the weight and cost of those tents. I had a hard time finding a sub 4lb tent with one bomber vestibule let alone a second

I considered to LBo nest but adds significant weight and doesn’t appear to be big enough. Seek outside says up to 6’ person.

definately want lighter weight vs super bomb proof. If the weather is looking foul we have a canvas base tent we could operate out of.

Have you considered a larger pyramid tent, with an inner tent. Dog + gear would be inside your tent as opposed to in the vestibule. But something like the Seek Outside Cimarron or a Locus Gear khafra or Hapi Grande would fit your requirements. I have both the Locus Gear Khufu Grande and the Hyperlight Mountain Gear Ultamid 4 with the inner tent and they are palaces inside yet super light. Setup properly they are also bomb proof.

I'm 6'4" and picked up the double rainbow Li this year. Interior length provides enough room from my sleep system and my gear. The width will make it a bit cozy for two, but with vestibules on both sides your packs and gear could remain outside the tent body. When you consider it's a sub-3 lb tent I don't know that I can find any negative to warn you of. You could find something bigger, but I doubt you'd find something better built for this weight.

A Tarptent Scarp 2 would fit them lengthwise, but at a sacrifice of vestibule space. Those are reasonable on weight, and can handle the weather.

I am very intrigued by the Tarptent brand. I had honestly never heard of them before. It seems like their tents are a good value and something worth taking into the backcountry. I am of the opinion that it is necessary to have the (3) pole as well for additional support. I plan on using this tent in eastern MT and the wind blows pretty steady out there. Does anyone have any experience using this tent in colder temps when the Termination Dust starts blowing around?
