2" ATA Difference

Is 2" difference in ATA and 1-2" brace height difference that drastic? I'm a 28" draw length, 70 lb weight.

Really trying to understand the preference and the differences between the Hoyt Helix/Ultra and the Realm/X/SR6/SS. Any help is greatly appreciated!

It can be between certain bows, but overall I think other factors also come into play (grip, let-off, draw cycle, accessories on the bow, and your shooting form) with how well you would shoot the bow. I would recommend you shoot all of the bows you are interested in and walk out with the one that feels the best to you.

I have a 32" and a 34.5" ATA bow from Obsession. They are nearly identical in BH, DL, poundage, arrow setup, stabilizers, etc. The only major difference between the bows is the ATA. I am 6'2" tall with a 29.5" DL if that matters. Personally I don't think it makes a big difference for me, provided that the peep location, string launch angle, and nock pinch are not an issue for you. The 34.5" ATA bow is SLIGHTY more stable at long range but it is by a hair. I like the string angle better on the longer bow.

I don't like to dip my nose to the string. So for me I wouldn't want a bow that had specs requiring that. BUT different overall cam sizes/design, the way the brace and ATA combine with that, and your release style/anchor point will make every bow a little different, even if ATA and brace are the same. Hoyt, for example has a cam design that increases string angle making a shorter ATA/brace bow feel longer. Mathews has HUGE cams, which might do the same (not really sure though).

As was stated you just gotta shoot them with your release, preferably with a peep/sight installed, to really know what is right for you. Specs alone will only get you an idea. Me at 28" and 70 lbs I much preferred the Ultra over the standard Helix, but I sold it (I also owned and sold a Realm X). I actually shot my Reign 7 better than either, although the Ultra felt absolutely great (my bad arrows were simply far worse than with my Reign 7). But I bought a Reckoning and am absolutely loving it at 35 ATA with smallish cams and a 7" brace. Best holding/shooting bow I've ever had bar none. I'd definitely put it on your list if you can deal with 325ish comfort (which I shoot) or 335ish performance (too stiff for me in a hunting situation).
