I am struggling with resized brass in my 6.5 PRC. Fresh Nosler brass worked just fine with this load, re-sized gave me crazy stiff bolt lift. So I went to Lapua brass and virgin brass was perfect. Shot a few rounds yesterday with resized Lapua and now getting bolt tick on the lift. A couple caveats, I changed out my powder drop and scale for this last round and dropped the charge by .5g as a safety precaution. The original load is 58g of 4831sc pushing 140g TGK out of a suppressed 19.5" barrel. Yesterday's load was 57.5g. My shoulder measurements are good in regards to spec. Do I need to go to a custom die or is this load just too much? Thanks for any thoughts.

Dude, I am not trying to be rude with my response, but I want you to avoid a serious injury. Please stop right now and pick up a load book. Sierra lists book max of 53.8 gr of H4831sc with the 140 TGK. You are getting into the dangerous range of pressure. I assume you have some deep ejector marks on this brass and am surprised you aren’t beating the bolt open.

Always reference load data and do a ladder starting at the mid-range of published data when developing a load. Safe reloading and I hope the load works well for you in the end.

I've had this happen before. When using virgin brass, some of the energy is shaping the brass to your chamber. 1x fired is already fireformed and doesn't use as much of the energy to shape the brass causing you to go over pressure. You need to drop your powder charge

That's a stiff charge that needs to be addressed for sure. But also, this is a common issue in 6.5 PRC referred to as "clickers" because of interfering chamber and die tolerances. If it still does it with a safe load you can either get a proper die like the Cortina Precision, or have the chamber touched up by a gunsmith with an AW2 fix reamer.
