The "best" 18650's I have came out of a dewalt battery pack that stopped charging. I say best because they were essentially free. I do have a purple and a blue wrapped battery that have lasted a long while. Meanwhile the 18650 i bought from fenix died a couple years ago and it was the newest battery i owned

What's the bottom line on that report, regarding the top couple of batteries?

OEM cells did best -- and cost less than the re-wraps:

I bought about eight from orbtronic in 2012 or 2013 and they’re still going strong. All of them have had hundreds of cycles on them and saw nightly use for years of me working nights plus the general use a normal person does with them. I mostly use 21700’s now but any of my 18650’s are still the originals and haven’t missed a beat.
