Looking at the 17 Hornet for a fun gun and predators Fox and Cats and the occasional coyote. Anyone have true experience with this round and predators?
I used a 17 Remington as my coyote calling rifle for several years, killed like a bolt of lightning, rarely did I even see any blood out of a coyote. That round was amazing on coyotes. Also used a 22 Hornet, and it worked just fine. If I was getting back into predator calling again, I would absolutely do another 17, and I would choose a bigger 17 again. Another 17 Remington or 17 Mach IV would be my top picks. 17’s are a kick!
I used to shoot a 17 hornet for small stuff. It was good on groundhogs out to 250 after that these tough western pa chucks would sometimes get in the hole. I used it on foxes and it worked wonderfully very few exit holes and when it did exit it was about the size of a quarter. I was shooting 20gr nosler varmageddons.
