168gr TMK Results on Game

How are they compared to Eldms on game? Similar?
I w listened to Form on the Exo podcast. He said they were similar, but he did say that they have had reliable kills with the TMK down to 1400 fps, but said the Hornady should be 1800 fps or faster. He was not referencing the 168 grain specifically.

I didn't catch that episode, I appreciate it!

I’m loading some for my buddies son. He has a moose tag this year.

My only experience is with the 77 grain version, results were as expected. I wish I could have convinced my friend to try the 77’s on the moose (kid is only 10) but it will be a cool data point to see what the 168’s do.

168 TMK, 82 yards up hill.

Short barrel 308 at 2,600 fps.

Bullet entered the left side of the neck, came out the right neck/head.

This bullet may actually be too much.

That buck actually stood up once I hiked up the hill to where he was. It was pretty freaky actually, it looked like the walking dead. He wasn’t running….just really f*c’d up and disoriented.

I put one in the shoulder and he went straight down and started kicking.

I never recovered any bullets so they must have passed through.

Huge silver dollar sized hole in the “impenetrable” shoulder once he was boned out. Lungs were jelly, heart untouched (we ate it the next day and it was delicious).

Pretty sure this is the exit from that shoulder shot…..if it is (pretty sure) the TMK went through the majority of that buck because of the angle and still exited. Granted it wasn’t “high velocity” because of the cartridge/barrel combo but it sure wasn’t slow either.

So no, match bullets don’t just explode, not even on shoulder bone. Even at reasonably high velocity.
