Does anyone have experience using 15x binoculars combined with 3x or 5x zoom on their phone? Specifically, if one had 15x binos and used their phone on a 3x or 5x optical zoom, could that be a suitable replacement for a spotting scope? Thanks in advance.

Depends out to what distances. But I would say no for most occasions. Sometimes a real spotter isn’t even enough optic.

Could be good for sub 1000 yard digiscoping or something though

Not really, because if you have a spotter you can still use phone zoom.

But, it can get you by sub 1000 like huntnful said.

The short answer, no. The larger objective of even smaller spotters capture more light than even large objective binos. The larger objective of a spotter will be very beneficial in low light settings ie dawn and dusk. On a tripod, 15x works well for longer ranges but their main advantage is field of view using both ocular lenses. Using 15x binos with a phone attachment would be like using a small objective monocular.
