Richland, boy that brings back memories. My dad and his buddies would hit Richland every fall and I would tag along. It was the big trip up from SoCa for us. All through the 70’s and 80’s until the old er land owners started to die off and the new family owners would not give permission to hunt. Sad. Great little valley for pheasant, quail and up on the breaks for chucker.Benelli; I was hunting just north of Richland in the canyon about this time 4 years ago, I was 60. Rain then freezing rain then snow on top. It wasn’t as bad walking as you might think, until it wasn’t. Fell and broke my leg. Used the barrel of my Benelli as a splint. Got into Ontario, got fixed up. Sent the barrel back to Benelli with an explanation, they sent me a new one- free. I’ve been hunting those bastards for over 50 years, hate the damn things.
I love nice SxS shot guns, in particular 20s and 28s. The only time I’ll use those is early when it’s hot and dry and there are enough birds down low near the river to keep us busy. Typically easier ground. In any event I like the Dickensons, Ithaca’s and Brownings in your price range.
mostly for chukar I carry an ultra light Benelli 20 gage.
Hunt chukar the first time for the experience from then on its revenge.
Which breed of pup are you getting?
