153 TMK Load Data

Friend has a 22in Tikka 8tw factory fluted 65prc take off he installed. Has a good shooting load with 58.2gr N565 running 2830mv. With a solid 10shot zero. We had to run g7 bc at 0.310 to get proper waterline at 730y, all other inputs in kestrel were spot on.

I plan to get one my 22in 7.5tw 65 creeds shooting this bullet here b4 too long. I'm curios if the extra twist helps.

Am I the only one that doesn’t understand why they used tips on the 153’s that are way too big and don’t line up with the bullet? If nobody has said that already… I don’t get it.

Budget nose ring. All things being said, I don't think it matters. They shoot great and should do fine on game.

I have no worry about their performance on game but kind of wish they used the 6mm tips on 6mm, 25 and 6.5 then these bigger tips on 7mm and 30 cal. But not knocking them too hard til I try em.

I’m trying to teach myself not to look at the tips on bullets anymore because I lose my mind fighting the urge to cull out half of every box. They all have something that doesn’t look right, but I know it doesn’t actually affect anything so the solution is basically “don’t worry about it.”

Well the 153 TMK did some serious damage. Shot was at 512y and should have been around 2230 fps impact velocity. Bear was quartering away on a decent downhill angle. Aimed at the last couple ribs and I hit 1/10 mil lower than I wanted but the bullet did its job and some. Blew a whole all the way threw the lower part of the stomach, intestines and stomach contents were hanging out, liver was destroyed, part of the bullet completely broke the lower opposite front leg, a fragment came out behind the same side shoulder, and got some of the lungs. Bear only traveled 75y or less.
