Taking my 16" .308 next week for 1st rifle in Co. Trying to decide which bullet to use. Probably over thinking it but would like to hear some feedback. Both 150g rounds shoot sub MOA, the Buffalo Bore TTSX is right at 2710fps and the Accubond rolling in at 2605. Furthest shot anticipated is only 300. I'd like to use the 165g Federal Trophy Bonded Tip but it's only pushing it 2500 fps. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

I shoot both bullets and prefer the AB. Both are really good bullets.

308 and a 150 Nosler Accubond in the 300 yards range has put down a lot of elk in my family.

150gr ttsx is one of the harder barnes .30 cal bullets, ie it requires more velocity to expand than some other weights, and realistically may not carry enough velocity even to 300 yards. Try 130gr ttsx or go with accubonds.

Between your options, I would use the accubond and definitely keep your shot distances shorter. Then next year switch to something like a 150 SST or 150 ELDX or 155 ELDM to increase wound channel and tissue damage.

UPDATE: I ordered some 150 Accubond's from Choice Ammunition out of Montana. The 150's are rolling at 2770fps out of my 16" .308, way sub-MOA. A big shout out to them for making a heck of a round that outruns and out shoots the factory rounds, which by the way are pretty darn good. I think I found my round for my shorty .308.

I also have a bear tag. The plan is to harvest and elk with the NA and a bear with the TTSX and document the necropsy. I'll update upon my return. Thanks for all your feedback, gents.

Can't go wrong with either! TTSX for deeper penetration, Accubond for consistent expansion.

I tried both Choice and Copper Creek last year for my new 7-08 and went with the Copper Creek load for the 145 LRX. I went full custom seating and all. Hole on hole accuracy and also with the 150 TTSX. Highly recommend if you get the itch to try something else.

Since you’re giving up some velocity and keeping it to a reasonable range I’d also give the 130 ttsx a shot, they’ve been awesome in my 16.5 308. Not a thing wrong with the accubond if your rifle likes them better though!

What did you finally decide on and how was the hunt?

I went with a 150g Accubond loaded by Choice Ammo. It clocked in at 2750. Didn't get a shot on any bulls. Got close, but no cigar. My dad took one just under 100yds with his 270 pushing a 130g Core-lokt. Dropped it in its tracks. Perfect expansion through the heart. Found bullet in hide opposite entry.
