For those of you with on game performance, what is your experience with how these two bullets differ terminally? Is there a sweet spot with impact velocity and killing effectiveness?
Thanks

i prefer the 147s. they have a better bc and often are cheaper and easier to find bc they aren't "hunting ammo". plus you get exit wounds like this, they are pretty devastating.

also a helpful tip if you go in the 6.5 thread and click on the search you can filter to all posts in that thread with the bullet you are interested. eg. click on the thread link below--> click search --> this thread -->type "147" or "143" "147 elk" " 143 deer" or even "143 147" and it will find all the posts of kills with that bullet in the thread so you don't have to read through 81 pages. it's a very helpful feature on this forum

I cannot speak for the eldx. However my two kills last year with 147 ELD-M were perfect. One went through front sternum and did not exit. However everything vital on both kills was soup. IMO “M” are also cheaper, accurate, and a bit heavier. My 2c

143 ELDX has lots of good kills in my group, from 20-465 yards. Loads of whitetail, some pronghorn, African game up to kudu.

At higher velocities, (up close) you’ll have lots of expansion and generally no exit, but the animal is DRT. At slower velocities, you’re more likely to get an exit wound, but it still kills quickly.

As with all bullets, you’ll occasionally have odd performance. Our most notable example was a whitetail shot broadside at 170 yds, and the bullet veered sharply to the right, coming to rest in the backstraps almost at the hips. Still wrecked a lung on the way in, and the deer was down within 20ish yards, but not great for the backstrap meat!

We only have a handful of kills with ELDM, but so far performance seems pretty similar, maybe slightly more expansion.

I'm an idiot after clicking search click the drop-down and change it to "this thread" . That's the most important part and I forgot to clarify haha oops
