Took my daughter to Colorado for 1st Rifle. On Monday evening at 6:55 PM she dropped this beautiful cow right in her tracks. The shot was 257 yards with her Savage 308, topped with a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 scope and a 165 gr Hornady Superformance. She then proceeded to do about 90% of the meat processing herself. Unbeknownst to me, she had been watching YouTube videos on field processing an elk and wanted to do it herself. I just help guide her through a few of the tricky parts and do the literal heavy lifting into game bags.
We spent about 5 hours getting the meat processed and the first two quarters back to camp. Got a few hours of sleep in the tent and then headed back for the other two quarters. Exhausting and incredible.
Couldn't imagine a better hunt.
