In an attempt to unravel an ancient mystery (ok like 5 years old) I have began looking at variables that may be causing some of us to be having failure to feed and failure to fire with heavy hard cast bullets out of various different models of pistols chambered in 10mm. Here is where I'd like some help from you collecting data.
Give this a try and let me know your results. The fate of the free world is at stake and all that....(insert whatever clever line gets you to do the thing)

Good luck with gathering the data. It may or may not be related, but I've seen similar problems occur with "match grade" barrels in various handgun chamberings, including 9mm and .40 S&W. The stuff that chambers flawlessly when doing a chamber-check like this with the actual barrel from one normal handgun, can do exactly what you just showed as a fail when tried in barrels with match chambers and their tighter tolerances.

I’ll do some testing. I have or have access to a bunch of ammo.

Glock 20 SF Gen 3 stock barrel and Double Tap 200 WFNGC have never given me a single issue since 2012 and shooting probably 300-400 rounds of it.
Can’t find it anymore so I’m working on my own load to duplicate with MBW 200 grain hi tek coated. About finalized right at 1200 fps.

I can get my hands on an Sig stock barrel and a problematic S&W barrel.

I do think your test is a very good one to do with any ammo your life might depend on before you load the mag to carry. That’s after a bunch of shooting to confirm function.

I would also suggest on failed rounds or ammo to take a COAL measurement and a crimp or case mouth diameter. In my experience from loading 10mm those are both important go make functioning ammo.

Correct, I have seen that as well and it showed up clear as day in the testing I've done so far.

Nice, thank you

1 and 5 are wide meplat bullets that are ideal for deep straight line penetration. These felt like the throat grabbing bullet on the fails.
S&W overall is a tighter chamber, you cannot see as much space as the Glock around case when dropped in.
S&W will jam on ammo listed with 0 failures on drop, typically those have been observed as bullet shape incompatibility with feed ramp.

I’ll work on getting the Sig
