I was on a visit to Taos the last few days and I guess some news channel had a story last night 10/22 indicating that they finally determined it was due to a certain blue/green algae in a stock tank. I'm not from NM so I can't give you a link to the site or any more detail, but I'm sure one of the NM crowd will chime in.
