I don't think ehd could happen that fast. Maybe they got into something that was toxic that killed them so fast?

I wouldn't discount the EHD . They probably all were in the same cloud of nats and all contracted it at the same time and died about the same time.

No way its EHD, had EHD outbreaks on my ranch. Thats way to concentrated, quick and contained. Pretty darn green in the video also.

First if it was EHD there would be lots of dead elk in the water or real close trying to naturally break the fever, second 100 elk dieing in less then a mile apart. No way. EHD can be quick but not that quick especially how much elk travel. You would have dead elk scattered for miles

They got into something toxic,

That's like same person winning the lottery in every state on the same day.

Ehd makes the animals thirsty and go for water. Was this near water? If not I would say its not ehd. It's some kind of poisoning that these animals got into. Which is such a shame.

Man, that is terrible! I don't pretend to know much about EHD but is this possible? Maybe poisoned water source or like someone else mentioned vegetation? Has this happened before with that many animals? Also they mentioned it can't be passed from animal to human but what about if humans would have gotten bit by the insects? Can that happen?

A cloud of H2S could do something like this. But it breaks up pretty fast. No wind. It can hang around for a long time.

Showed a buddy from MT the news report and he bet it was lightning since it was large number or elk and happened fast. He knows of a confirmed incident in MT where a group of 9 bulls were found dead right after a thunderstorm and the whole bachelor heard was killed.
