10/22 - tacsol question

I hope this question isn’t too stupid but here it goes.

I have a tacsol x-ring 22 it’s awesome, extremely accurate, light, I love it but I do t like the extended magazine release. I was out ptsrmigan hunting on my snow machine earlier today and I caught the extended magazine releasing stuff a dozen times, it’s a miracle I don’t lose a magazine out there.

I’d like to take the extended release lever off and just have the standard magazine release.

Here’s the real question though, the talons a 10/22 clone, it’s just like a 10/22 but the only thing on that gun actually made by Ruger is the trigger, will a standard Ruger mag release work on that gun?

It should be the same, it’s a single pin holding the mag release and bolt catch.

Thanks, I’m going to look for a factory mag release and make the swap.

I’d swap you mag releases but the cost to ship probably wouldn’t be worth it.

It might be, I can’t even find a factory release that isn’t extended. I have not looked super hard but pretty much everything seems like it’s got some sort of extension lever on it.

I’ll look more tomorrow. Maybe brownells has something. I could be wrong but it looks like at some point Ruger started using an extended release although it’s not as big as the one on my tacsol.

I don't have an answer on how/whether the release mechanisms are compatible.

My 10/22 assembly is original receiver with a TacSol barrel. The trigger in photo is CMC with release lever in front of the trigger guard.





I still have the original 10/22 trigger assembly. It's the older all-metal version. If you find out that having those parts is your solution, am offering to send you the complete assembly if you cover the ship cost. My offer is exclusive to the OP.
