1 piece or 2 rings

I will be mounting a Leupold Mark 5HD 3.6x18 44mm scope to a bolt action rifle with a pictatinny rail on the rifle. Does it matter if I use 2 rings or a 1 piece mount in relation to accuracy and stability of the scope under .338 recoil?

It should not. If the rail is perfect to the base, then one or two piece mounts should make no difference as they would also be perfect to the base. I have thought about this very question many times, if the base is off, all else will be off, whether the two rings are joined or not.
