Decided the buckles on my ACG harness were too bulky and looked for a good replacement. At $0.50 a piece I figured this was well worth sharing.

I took the buckles off and replaced them with 1" plastic tri-glides. Then on one side which you can see on the pictures below I used wire cutters to cut a slight V notch out of the slide that connects to the body then just loop the strap of the harness through the other side

Is the harness still pretty adjustable with this modification? Like if you were out in the winter with layers you could still make it fit correctly and Visa versa for warm weather?

Yes it is still fully adjustable. You lose a little length but that is just due from the size difference between the buckle and the tri-glide. So at most it is 1.5-2 inches. Unless you are absolutely maxed out with the buckles you would be fine.

I did almost the same thing, I left the right chest buckle for getting it on and off easier.

I love this idea, thanks for sharing! Where did you order the tri-glides from? I know there are a lot out there; yours look sturdy and that they fit well. Also, do you think a waveloc ghook would work? I was looking at these https://www.knifecountryusa.com/sto...o7S2gmnT5aGcJQR_Scfy1-Kas_OBUlJBoCX00QAvD_BwE They look like they would keep the strap tight?
Also, a mod I made to my AGC that you might like is I replaced the bino tether straps with bungee cord. I thought the factory straps were too bulky and always seemed to be twisting. The bungee cord is very unobtrusive.

I bought some g loks and didn't like them. I just felt like it could come undone. I used split bar ladder locks, https://milspecmonkey.com/store/hardware-diy/795-itw-gtll-100-split-bar-1inch-ladderloc.html, from these guy's, but it looks like they're out of stock.

I got them from Rockywoods.com

I looked at the Ghooks as well but wasn't sure if they would slip off too easily.

Thanks for the link! I ordered some ghooks already, and I’ll get some of the basic triglides to try as well. I’ll be curious to see how they compare.

I don't use that harness any longer but I converted mine to G hooks as well. If you do use the G hook, make sure you get the wave version, they're supposed to prevent slippage.

Looks like many people are trying to solve the same problem. Thanks for the tip. I’m going to order some up.

I simply replace mine with Kifaru K-clips. Works perfect, super light and easy to put on. $5/pair on the Kifaru site. Make sure you get the metal ones.
