Thoughts? Was supposed to be a record.

Man buys NM Governor’s tag for $1.2M, hires GT Nunn crew to go after rumored world record Bighorn Sheep. Swavescatter posts picture on Rokslide. I’m truly honored to be a part of history.

The biggest ram disappeared last year before 24 season and has yet to be seen. I don’t think this one beats JJ’s. But still looks to break 200.

It’s a cool story and when you trace the lineage of these rams and all the relocation efforts. South Dakota even has some of the wheeler peak genetics.

I would rather see a photo of the hunter with his ram. And maybe his guide. All the other clutter just demeans the spirit of it all. But that's just me. Most of us can't relate to the value of something costing $1.3 million. It is valuable conservation dollars going back into wildlife and good for him being willing to do it.

I would suspect this ram was one from the Bandelier herd.

Yes (it’s no secret), which that herd was transplanted from wheeler in 2014 after bad fire. The South Dakota ram killed in 2018 that broke 200 had a genetic update from Wheeler in 2004.

It’s sad to see what’s happened to Taos and Wheeler though. Movi sucks
