    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

I get that the animals don't care, but I do. I still appreciate the aesthetics, the look and feel, of a traditional wood rifle and a clean barrel...and it adds to the enjoyment of the hunt for me. I just don't like synthetic stocks with huge "cans" hanging off the end of them, bipods, etc. I...

    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

Why the limits? Muzzle break - increased noise. Suppressor - looks "hideous" as someone above stated, increased length, etc. Reduced loads - it is my understanding that the factory reduced loads are often less accurate. I don't handload.

    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

    Would I even need a suppressor with a .243?

    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

I would get some additional recoil reduction due to the weight and the semi-auto action...right? How much more would this reduce recoil? But would I sacrifice accuracy by going from a bolt action to a BAR?

    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

What would be considered a faster barrel twist for a .243, and who makes one? What would be considered the standard twist for the .243 and what range of bullets will the standard twist handle vs the faster twist? From reading some other threads, it seems like the 95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip is...

    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

I really appreciate all of the responses and recommendations. It seems like the .243 is the clear winner, however, the 6 Creedmore, 6 ARC and 6.5 Grendel were also mentioned several times. I'm not very familiar with those last two "mini action" cartridges, so I will have to do some research on...

    Deer cartridges with minimal recoil

I won’t bore you with all the details, but due to a combination of medical issues (prior cervical fusion surgery and ongoing neck/shoulder issues) I was recently informed by one of my doctors that I need to minimize recoil as much as possible. This means that I will be retiring my .270 Win and...

    My Tikka groups suck

I appreciate the answers/explanations. So, it sounds like it's not that big of a deal/issue...certainly not enough to deter someone from purchasing a Tikka.

    My Tikka groups suck

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question...and it's coming from someone who has never owned a Tikka, but who is seriously considering purchasing one. In regard to the "dropping it on the butt a couple times on the floor" to seat the recoil lug...is this a normal/common issue and...

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

    Thank you for the clarification.

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

For the Huron, why would you prefer the German #4 over the Standard Duplex? FYI...I'm not interested in the BDC Hunter Hold, MOA/MIL-Dot, Triangle Post, etc.

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

How are the Accupoints/tritium in normal light? How long does the tritium usually last, and what do you do when it eventually does goes dim?

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

Why? Do you mean...for not going with illumination in general?...or for not considering the Accupoint over the Credo?

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

The Accupoint is more than what I want to pay and I'm still undecided if I even need/want illumination.

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

Would like to keep it around $600 or less. Currently, at Optics Planet, the Credo is $597 and the Huron is $489. The more I think about it, the more I am leaning toward the Huron. I'm just not sure if I really want/need the illumination.

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

Yes, that's what I was looking at as well. That's why I'm wondering if the Huron reticle would actually be easier to see in low light/heavy cover than a Credo reticle (when not illuminated). Is the Huron the more versatile, fail proof option...obviously things can go wrong with battery powered...

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

Good to know. Thank you! What I don't want to do is go with a scope that is great for low light, but that will handicap me in some way during normal shooting light. I want one that will do both well.

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

Actually, I'm looking at the Trijicon Credo 3-9X40 Standard Duplex (illuminated) in comparison to the Trijicon Huron Standard Duplex 3-9X40 (non-illuminated), and even though they both supposedly have the Standard Duplex reticles... the reticles are not the same. The thin, center cross hair...

Low light comparison of 17 scopes

Rookie question here...and also a question from someone who has never owned a scope with an illuminated reticle, but who is about to purchase a Trijicon Credo with illumination... For someone who anticipates taking shots at deer during low light scenarios, why wouldn't an illuminated reticle be...

    Recommendations for mounting a Credo 3-9 X 40

Have you had any issues with adjusting to the scope being mounted higher due to swapping to the picatinny rail?
