I I don’t think it’ll allow me too since I’m still in the probie stage of my membership. My bad if I broke etiquette. Wasn’t trying to

New hunter intimated to call elk.

That approach makes sense to me, that’s probably what I’ll do unless I’m on an aggressive bull and feeling pretty confident. Thanks for the reply. The idea of getting one to respond to a bugle sounds about as exciting as it gets but I understand that I need to be cautious and not fire up a...

Yeah I just did the math and it must only be the number of hunters hunting that specific MZ tag divided by the square mileage of the unit. It doesn’t account for others that are hunting an archery tag or another species, but according to that same chart it’s one of the lesser pressured units. A...

Thanks man that’s sound advice and matches what I’ve learned on the elknut app. Do you ever bugle at night to locate them?

Great point, my main concern is spooking the elk with a poorly performed bugle.

New hunter intimated to call elk.

Appreciate the reply, I just downloaded the Elknut app so I’m hoping to learn the language as much as I can in the next few weeks. The idea of locating elk at night with a bugle is probably one of the main reasons why I bought one. Prior to this hunt I’ve only hunted OTC where I mainly just...

New hunter intimated to call elk.

Good afternoon everyone just a quick tactic question from a new hunter. I’m doing my first real backcountry muzzleloader hunt in unit 66 this year. I’ve been practicing bugling and elk calling over the summer and I think I’m starting to get it. I was curious on everyone’s opinion if I should...

    Quitting Alcohol

I’ve been sober for almost 9 months now and I’m much healthier and find that I can burn fat and put on muscle easier. I agree with everyone saying find a substitute. I work out like crazy and enjoy more of my outdoor hobbies now that I’m not battling hangovers. I also drink healthy carbonated...

How does your job prepare you for the mountain?

I’m fortunate enough to be a wildland firefighter. Usually by the time September rolls around I’m ready to go. We usually do functional PT every morning that translates to walking in the woods with a pack on. Sometimes PT means stretching or doing yoga which pays dividends in recovery and...

Smoker/Pellet grill advice, recommendations for setup capable of low temps.

I’ve had great luck with my green mountain grill, its holds at 150 just fine and has settings to adjust to the surrounding ambient temp. In the two years I’ve owned it I had 1 issue where the power cord broke and they quick shipped me a new one on their dime.

Good afternoon everyone and thanks for having me, I’ve been lurking on this site for quite some time and always manage to find useful info about gear, species activity and tactics etc. I’m a fairly newer hunter out of the front range in CO. I have a few white tail under my belt but this year I...
