I thought about Maven, but haven't been able to hold any in person. And same with Hawke, but I have seen their scopes, wasn't super impressed with them. Same thing with Riton. One big thing that I like is the warranty on this stuff, thus why I really appeal to Vortex and Athlon.
I'm not stuck on 10x, but just seems to be much more common. I worry about not having enough zoom, but sure don't want to go up to a 12x.
My current chest rig is set up for 10x42 size binoculars, so that's why I was looking to keep them the same. I don't want to change that, or have my bino's...
I tried to order one of their rifle scopes a year or two ago, but after I placed the order, it got cancelled because they could not fill it. I even called and talked to the president of the company (he answered the phone... uncommon to say the last). He was super helpful and that's why I placed...
So I'm looking to upgrade my Binoculars. I currently have Vortex Diamondback HD's and want something a little better. I am a Vortex fan, but open to other options as well. Looking for clarity and reliability mainly. I have Vortex products, Burris products, and have had Riton 3's in the past (all...
I wish I still had the picture. I kept the bullet and everything, but that was years and 1 move ago... so of course it got lost. I don't appear to have the picture anymore, I'm sure the baby pictures pushed it out.
Animal didn't travel far, surprisingly, only went about 50 yards after jumping a...
I have a Browning LR Max rifle. My load, for MY rifle;
Nosler Brass
Berger 153.5
VV570 @ 59.0
CCI LRM Primer
2.950" OAL
I'm getting 1/2 MOA when I do my part.
My rifle did not like the Hornady 143 ELD's, nor the 147's. I was really hoping it would like the 143's, but no such luck, got 1MOA if...
I have Nosler Brass, VV570 @59.0 gr, CCI LRM primers, set to 2.950". Out of my Browning Max LR rifle, I'm getting right at 2950 or so FPS and 1/2MOA accuracy, verified out to 800 yards.
I tried Barnes TSX in a 6.5 Creedmoor once... once. Shot a smaller buck about 120yds out, perfect behind the shoulder shot. Zero expansion, bullet was recovered and it was still 100% intact. The petals on the nose were actually bent inward, making it more of a FMJ.
Barnes, along with every...
I plan on putting in for my first tag this year to try my hand at getting an Antelope in WY. I have a cousin who went last year, said there was tons all over where they went, and it wasn't even a "prime" spot (according to him). He did say he had to deal with, "not so nice" hunters who were in...
I would definitely find a Game Warden and ask them... before they find you and tell you...
The other thing, in the terrain you are talking about, do you really want to risk it? Obviously I don't know the ATV you are riding, but if it's designed for one and you have to cram another person on it...
Was it a friend that you helped pack out the first time? I have never packed out an elk before (hoping to next year if the chance arises), but for friends, I would be happy to pack it out with nothing in return.
I love the fact that people are willing to share what they get, but I guess I look...
I'm all for deleting, but the state and federal governments are talking about going after the small guys now for EPA violations. (there are already states that due emissions testing, they don't fine you usually, but you can't register the vehicle in their state)
I agree, emissions is killing...
I work at a Chevrolet dealership and sell fleet/person vehicles. I personally own the Chevrolet BabyMax (as it's been dubbed). Absolutely love it. I can tow as much as I want, fuel economy is great, and the DEF usage is pretty small. (I get about 5K-6K per 5 gal tank without towing)
If you have...
I have multiple Burris Veracity scopes. The thing I love about them, they are FFP so once you get your hold overs for range set up, you don't have to sit and worry about what power you are on if they are accurate. (missed a WT the other year due to this with my 30-30)
I have the 3-15 and 4-20...
I'm in the same area as you guys are. I'm trying to get started hunting deer here in SD. Been living here for about 5 years, been busy enough I haven't gotten around to trying. I live next to, and work in IA, so everyone I know is in IA. Of course, their response for hunting is "get an IA tag...
Let us know how you do. I live in the very SE corner of SD and I'm trying to get places to go hunting. Moved up here from KS where I had access to private land, that went away... Never had to hunt public before and trying to get started on it.
