    Colorado Elk.

    While muzzy does add some pressure to the mountain especially deer hunters, I would still lean on weather/conditions more than pressure concerns. If you think that 3rd week will be the best hunting, hunt the 3rd week

    How would your strategy change from CO to NM?

    Agreed on a lot of the points here - NM was more arid than my hunts in CO and the elk tended to be a bit more concentrated by habitat rather than hunting pressure like I've seen in CO.

    When I was elk hunting last year in NM we came across a few really nice bears. They were keyed in on some the creek drainages and east facing slopes for the berries.

    CO has a lot of bears and can get on them in the fall if you find the berries. Otherwise, have heard CA actually produces some of the biggest black bears in the west and might be worth looking into
